Linda Hoppe, Bkin, TRP, MT
Linda Hoppe is the Proud Owner, CEO, and co-founder of Seminars for Health Inc, the Western Canada leader in Massage Therapy, Advanced online and in-person Education.
Linda has utilized her 30+ years of experience treating, instructing, curriculum design, and course development to acquire the best faculty to develop courses exclusive to Seminars for Health. As a Lead Instructor, she taught Musculoskeletal Anatomy, Gross anatomy, Deep Tissue Massage, Arthrology, Advanced Massage Techniques, Treatment, Clinical Internship, and Kinetic Massage. Linda has an innate gift for instruction and develops courses that are comprehensive and challenging yet achievable. Her course delivery is clear, confident and caring.
Linda is the SFH Orthopedic Massage, SFH Kinetic Massage, and SFH Assisted Stretching Online Certification programs creator. In addition, Linda has published and created Dynamic Muscle Base, Kinetic Method principles and SFH Orthopedic Massage Handbook. Linda’s passion for elevating the profession of massage therapy is evident through her creation and offering of high-quality continuing education courses. Linda was proudly inducted into the Hall of Fame in 2020 at the World Massage Festival.
Linda is an active member of the Mount Royal University Massage Advisory Committee and has extensive international clinical experience. She had the chance to practice using the many languages she enjoys speaking, working in Spain, Quebec, and Alberta. She holds a degree in Kinesiology from the University of Calgary, a three-year diploma as a Physiotherapy Technician from CEGEP F.X Garneau, Quebec, and is a Massage Therapy graduate from Mount Royal University.
Mara Boaru, PT, BScPT, RMT
If you want more precision in your work Mara is a great instructor choice for you. Creator and instructor of SFH Intraoral TMJ with Precision Program and co-instructor of the SFH Orthopedic Massage and Kinetic Massage Certification programs, Mara provides superior instruction, explaining distinct specifics of finger placement, to effect best treatment results. She has a tremendous amount of patience in teaching detailed anatomy and palpation skills. She is known for her attentiveness, humor and approachable style. This is a perfect combination to have when instructing intraoral palpation of a vulnerably and hidden area.
Human movement is Mara’s fascination and passion. Obtaining a Physiotherapy degree in 2008, she went on to strengthening her hands-on skills, graduating from Mount Royal University Massage Therapy program in 2010. Mara is an avid learner, acquiring an abundance of continuing education courses and seminars. Her special interests are mobility, palpation, jaw and neck regions. Her talents are demonstrated by instructing the SFH Orthopedic Massage, SFH Kinetic Massage, and SFH Dynamic Cupping Certification programs and Cadaver Lab.
Dominique is the admin lead for Seminars for Health. He is key in the implementation and management of the system for both online and in-person training platforms. Being with the company since 2015, he can propose a solution thriving for efficient system operations and customer service. Dominique works closely with management and is a great asset to the company.
Jocelyn Hansen, RMT
Jocelyn’s massage specializing is with cervical treatments, headaches and MVA rehabilitation. She successfully integrates SFH Dynamic Cupping into her therapeutic practice to help decompress tissues to achieve optimal recovery for her clients. She recognizes that no single approach is right for every individual. Her treatment approach is catered to be as personalized as possible and greatly enhanced with her skills as an SFH Dynamic Cupping and Massage therapist. Jocelyn’s positive, warm personality and desire to help which makes her a perfect fit to instruct the SFH Dynamic Cupping Program offered by Seminars For Health. Jocelyn is an avid continuing education participant; she is always looking for new ways to improving her skills and become a better therapist and business woman. She is a Mount Royal University’s 2200 hour Massage Therapy Diploma program graduate.
Nyomi Hauta, RMT
Nyomi has over 15 years of experience in the service industry and has an administrative background. With her excellent attention to detail, organization skills and caring nature, Nyomi effectively is the face of Seminars for Health. Working as our Marketing Representative, you will see her at trade shows and behind the scenes she is an essential member of our marketing team.
Like a typical massage therapist, she has a drive to help others. Since 2015, Nyomi has quietly helped Seminars for Health while completing her 2,200-hour Massage Therapy Diploma. Her commitment to the massage therapy industry has helped her to become a pillar to our organization.
Mike Horne, RMT
Mike has been practicing massage therapy for 15 years, has been a Massage Therapy instructor since 2003; starting to teach at ICT Northumberland College in Halifax Nova Scotia as well as CCMH Halifax and Calgary campuses. Mike has been involved with many different sections of the profession from Cruise Ships, land based resorts in other countries, along with setting up a training academy in the UK for a the cruise ship spa company. His practice has been varied and dynamic throughout the years ranging from National and professional Athletes, to the theater and dance communities, along with special population groups from chronic pain and neurological conditions. His treatment plans are effectively focused with his vast knowledge and experience of assessment skills.
He is currently a Lead instructor at Mount Royal University’s Massage Therapy program and has been with them since 2010, and was also involved with the curriculum review group and rewrite. He is a talented instructor and presenter who delivers the material in a logical and comprehensible manner. He was the lead massage therapist at Landmark Collaborative Health and is sitting on the board of directors for the MTAA.
Lisa Gossen, BSc, RMT, CHNC
Lisa brings extensive knowledge from her wide education background. She obtained her Bachelor of Science from the University of Calgary, a diploma in Massage Therapy from the West Coast College of Massage Therapy and is a graduate from the Canadian School of Natural Nutrition as a Certified Holistic Nutritional Consultant.
Lisa has been practicing Massage Therapy for 28 years. Her experience treating clients in a wide variety of settings including chronic pain clinics, chiropractic offices, and spas. She has taught advanced Massage Therapy techniques and provided Health Care Seminars as a Health Educator for companies such as The City of Calgary, Encana Corporation and Seminars for Health. Lisa is the course developer and instructor of the Holistic Nutrition series of courses. She provides an attainable holistic nutrition approach that can benefit anyone.
She is currently the owner of Inner Balance Spa in Calgary where she continues to practice therapeutic massage, Myofascial Release and Nutritional consulting.
Denny Paccagnan, BA, RMT
Denny Paccagnan has passionately practiced hands-on therapy for 22 years. As a result of Denny’s desire to learn, he is fully certified in Manual Lymph Drainage (MLD) and Combined Decongestive Therapy (CDT) and completed numerous myofascial release courses taught by John Barnes and Barry Jenings. His desire and enthusiasm to learn keeps him informed on the latest myofascial and lymphatic techniques.
From his high-level of education and training, Denny created this unique Fascial Decompression course. This outstanding method was developed from his 22,000+ hours of successful “hands-on” therapeutic work experience and immense continuing education knowledge including inspiration of John F. Barnes. Fascia and lymphatics is Denny’s specialty. His philosophy is to help the body initiate its own innate natural healing response, allowing the injury or problem to heal itself.
Denny is a very calming therapist and instructor to be around. His remarkable, gentle and non-invasive healing approach is very effective at successfully treating patients who do not respond to any other treatment.
Marina Locke, RMT, RYT(500), CST, Doula
You will meet Marina Locke, our future international Instructor, as she is being trained to help with Seminars for Health future expansion to New Zealand. Marina, originally from Calgary, is a senior Massage Therapist, with over 30 years of experience in working with clients, integrating skills such as Massage Therapy, Craniosacral therapy, Visceral manipulation, SFH Dynamic Cupping/stone therapy, SFH Orthopedic Massage, and Yoga.
In 1994, in collaboration with Linda Hoppe and other business partners, Marina became a proud owner as they opened a specialized maternity clinic in the Peter Lougheed Hospital. It was the first of it’s kind in Canada offering perinatal massage therapy, doula services, infant massage, and professional training. Marina will be a great asset to our global Advanced Education expansion.
Michelle Vanderhaeghe, RMT
Michelle is a teaching assistant for SFH Dynamic Cupping Certification program at Seminars for Health and is an accomplished Infant Massage Instructor and former clinic owner. She has been practicing Massage Therapy for an impressive 20 years and graduated from Rocky Mountain Academy with 2200-hour equivalency. Michelle is an active member with the Massage Therapy Association of Alberta.
Michelle is a serious fund of education. She has completed an impressive list of programs and is now a certified SFH Dynamic Cupping Therapist, SFH Advanced Orthopedic Massage Therapist, and Infant instructor. She was also trained in Mindful Meditation Massage, Pediatric Massage, Autism, and Oncology in pediatrics.
Michelle has a passion for serving others and helping clients optimize and reach their health and wellness goals.
Michelle loves the outdoors and spending time with her family camping.
Samantha Oliver, RMT
Sam is our Grande Prairie Liaison for all of our fantastic classes that we hold up North. She has been a massage therapist for 10 years now, graduating from Alberta Massage Training in 2009 and running her own business from home; Simply About Massage, or S.A.M! Sam started her massage journey in Texas volunteering in numerous scenarios from hurricane relief, to orphanage relief, because she enjoys helping people. Becoming a massage therapist has allowed Sam to help people everyday and she loves it. She has taken a handful of Seminars for Health courses and has loved every one. She uses the material in her day to day practise. Her favorite treatment is pre and post natal and paediatric massage. She is a certified infant massage instructor, certified in dynamic cupping, and advance orthopaedic massage as well as geriatric massage and arthritis care.
Clarissa Eshleman, RMT
Clarissa Eshleman has been a Massage Therapist for the past 8 years, graduating from Mount Royal University’s 2200 Hour Massage Therapy Program in 2013. She has been a vital asset to the Seminars for Health Team since 2016 as a teaching assistant and now has graduated into an Instructor position. She specializes and teaches the following SFH modalities: Dynamic Cupping, TMJ1, Kinetic Massage of the Neck, OM of the Anterior and Posterior Neck.
She has an ever – growing passion for advanced education in the Massage Therapy Field and strives to increase her knowledge, so that she can continue to share and educate health care practitioners after her. She is a strong supporter of a healthy lifestyle and the use of natural alternatives to heal ailments, prevention of injury, and stress management through massage therapy.
Chris Slinn, RMT
Chris teaches the SFH Kinetic Massage Certification Program for Seminars for Health, a certified Egoscue Postural Alignment Therapist and an SFH Kinetic Massage Therapist. He has been practicing Massage Therapy since 2016 after completing his massage therapy training with Makami college.
Chris is currently working in a Chiropractic clinic in SE Calgary, helping clients from everyday pain, motor vehicle accidents, and common structural conditions.
Chris is a strong believer in Advanced Education in Massage Therapy and is a great asset to our SFH team!
Cheryl Harsch, RMT
Cheryl recognized her passion for health and wellness at a young age. After successfully obtaining a 2200 hrs. Massage Therapy diploma from Mount Royal University in June 2014, Cheryl worked with a chiropractic centre, wellness centre specializing in lymph drainage therapy, and as a mobile therapist throughout Calgary and Cochrane.
Cheryl continues to invest in herself by acquiring additional education while developing and honing her skills. In addition to her personal growth, Cheryl believes patient education and understanding are a fundamental part of ensuring each person reaches their optimum state of well-being and improving their quality of life.
Cheryl has a strong internal and external client service focus, commitment to excellence and professionalism with the highest job performance standards. Her empathic and nurturing personality makes her an asset with Seminars for Health as she can personally relate to our students. As a Teacher Assistant, our students will feel supported and comforted by Cheryl’s friendly demeanour as she empowers them while learning a new skill.
Bob Cross, BPE, RMT
An education leader, Bob has elevated the massage therapy industry through his academic contributions. He is respected amongst Seminars for Health’s faculty of instructors and by the massage therapy industry for his knowledge and passion to raise the overall standards of massage therapy. Bob has been heavily involved within the massage education sector including being a co-founder of Seminars for Health with Linda Hoppe. He has been teaching various components of Massage Therapy for 20+ years. He was a Senior Instructor with Mount Royal University and currently Department Head and Senior Instructor with MaKami College and instructor with Seminars for Health. Bob is appreciated by his students for his gift of delivery when teaching. Bob’s talent and reputation solidified Seminars for Health’s entrance rights to instruct gross anatomy at the Cadaver Lab at Foothills Hospital. His astute anatomy skills makes him especially invaluable as a Cadaver Lab and Palpation with Precision instructor.
Katie Kenyon, MScPT, BSW, CAFCI
Katie grew up in Calgary with a passion for the outdoors, functional movement and community. She combined a bachelor’s degree in Social Work and a Master’s degree in Physiotherapy in order to provide care with a truly biopsychosocial approach.
Katie has worked in a variety of settings including hospital, private practice and the Canmore Pain Clinic. She uses many different treatment modalities with clients including acupuncture, manual therapy, therapeutic yoga and mindfulness. Katie has continued to study with post-graduate work in the fields of women’s health, manual therapy, persistent pain and yoga.
Katie is passionate about engaging clients in their journey to health with an evidence-based and client-centered approach. She is thrilled to use principles of neuroplasticity to change the brain, help clients regain function and move with ease, integrity & joy. Katie is the course developer and instructor of Transforming Pain with Neuroplasticity. This outstanding course provides therapist with alternatives to help clients who live with persistent, chronic pain. The vast information and resources provided are equally valuable for participants to utilize within their own self care routine.
