Linda Hoppe, Bkin, TRP, CMT
As CEO and co-founder of Seminars for Health, Linda has utilized her 20+ years of experience to acquire the best instructors to develop courses exclusive to Seminars for Health.
Linda has an innate gift of instruction as well as developing courses that are comprehensive and challenging, yet achievable. Her course delivery is clear, confident and caring.
One of Linda’s many accomplishments is creating the Advanced OM (Orthopedic Massage) Certification program. Linda’s published Dynamic Muscle Base and Kinetic Method principles of treating within Advanced OM are created by Linda Hoppe, executing premium muscle therapy. Linda’s passion to elevate the profession of massage therapy is evident through her creation and offering of high-quality continuing education courses.
Her expertise spans over two decades of treating, instructing internationally and being closely involved with the massage industry’s best instructors. Linda has had extensive involvement with Mount Royal University in curriculum and course development. As a Lead Instructor she taught Musculoskeletal Anatomy, Gross anatomy, Deep Tissue Massage, Arthrology, Advanced Massage Techniques, Treatment, Clinical Internship and Kinetic Massage.
In addition, Linda has extensive clinical experience in Spain, Quebec and Alberta and holds a degree in Kinesiology from the University of Calgary, a three-year diploma as a Physiotherapy Technician from Quebec and is a Massage Therapy graduate from Mount Royal University.
Nyomi Hauta, RMT
Nyomi has over 15 years of experience in the service industry and has an administrative background. Her excellent attention to detail, organization skills and caring nature Nyomi effectively represents the face of Seminars for Health. She works closely with CEO Linda Hoppe to support the needs of massage therapist through continuing education. She is indispensable with organizing multiple course offerings.
Like a typical massage therapist, she has a drive to help others. Since 2015, Nyomi has quietly helped Seminars for Health while completing her 2,200-hour Massage Therapy Diploma. As of 2016, she has grown with the company, leading much of the daily operations, her commitment to the massage therapy industry, she has become a pillar to Seminars for Health.
With Nyomi’s caring heart, massage therapy and administrative background, she brings a unique gift to Seminars for Health and the massage therapy industry. Nyomi has transitioned to become Seminars for Health Communication Director to promote quality education that elevates the massage therapy industry. Her team support has helped grow Seminars for Health into a leader amongst massage therapy continuing education providers.
Mara Boaru, PT, BScPT, RMT
If you want more precision in your work Mara is a great instructor choice for you. Creator and instructor of Intraoral TMJ with Precision and co-instructor of the Advanced OM (Orthopedic Massage) certification courses, Mara provides superior instruction, explaining distinct specifics of finger placement, to effect best treatment results. She has a tremendous amount of patience with teaching detailed anatomy and palpation skills. She is known for her attentiveness, humour and approachable style. This is a perfect combination to have when instructing intraoral palpation of a vulnerably and hidden area.
Human movement is Mara’s fascination and passion. Obtaining a Physiotherapy degree in 2008, she went on to strengthening her hands-on skills, graduating from Mount Royal University Massage Therapy program in 2010. Mara is an avid learner, acquiring an abundance of continuing education courses and seminars. Her special interests are mobility, palpation, jaw and neck regions. Her talents are demonstrated with instructing the Advanced OM Certification program, Kinetic Massage series, Cadaver Lab and Dynamic Cupping and Massage.
Geri Dale-Greiner, BPE, RMT
For over 20 years, Geri’s clients have been experiencing the benefits cupping therapy as part of her massage therapy practice. With a Thai Massage Therapy background, Geri incorporates joint mobilization into her cupping massage practice. She graduated from Rocky Mountain Academy of Massage Therapy after completing her Physical Education degree at the University of Calgary. Utilizing her cupping expertise, Geri developed a fantastic Mindful Meditation course to help clients cope with stress and a specialized series of Dynamic Cupping and Massage courses that provide the best cupping treatment performed through massage. This unique cupping course, exclusive to Seminars for Health, is designed specifically with the needs of massage therapists in mind. It incorporates kinetic movement techniques that Geri has perfected in her practice. Her amazing courses are exclusive to Seminars for Health. Geri understands how important it is to seamlessly integrate cups into the flow of a massage. Geri has a warm, friendly and approachable presence. She has completed her Yoga Teacher Training and is working towards a series of meditative massage based courses.
Jocelyn Hansen, RMT
In 2014, Jocelyn graduated from Mount Royal University’s 2200 hour Massage Therapy Diploma program and has been loving her practice ever since. Specializing in cervical treatments, headaches and MVA rehabilitation, she recognizes that no single approach is right for every individual.Her treatment approach is catered to be as personalized as possible and greatly enhanced with her skills as a Dynamic Cupping and Massage therapist. Jocelyn’s positive, warm personality and desire to help makes her a perfect fit as an assistant to the Dynamic Cupping and Massage Course offered with Seminars For Health. Jocelyn is an avid continuing education participant, she is always looking for new ways to improving her skills and become a better therapist and business woman.
Gayle MacDonald, MS, LMT
Gayle MacDonald, M.S., L.M.T., is the author of Medicine Hands: Massage Therapy for People with Cancer, 3rd Ed. (Findhorn Press, 2014) and Massage for the Hospital Patient and Medically Frail Client (LWW, 2005). Since 1994, Gayle has worked with patients and trained massage therapists on the oncology units at Oregon Health and Science University in Portland, Oregon plus four other hospitals around the US and Scotland.
Since 1998, Gayle has taught continuing education to massage therapists in the U.S., Canada, Scotland, Ireland, England, The Netherlands, and Australia. She is a member of the Oncology Massage Education Associates and Curriculum Lead for the Iris Cancer Partnership in Scotland.
Lisa Gossen, BSc, RMT, CHNC
Lisa brings extensive knowledge from her wide education background. She obtained her Bachelor of Science from the University of Calgary, a diploma in Massage Therapy from the West Coast College of Massage Therapy and is a graduate from the Canadian School of Natural Nutrition as a Certified Holistic Nutritional Consultant.
Lisa has been practicing Massage Therapy for 28 years. Her experience treating clients in a wide variety of settings including chronic pain clinics, chiropractic offices, and spas. She has taught advanced Massage Therapy techniques and provided Health Care Seminars as a Health Educator for companies such as The City of Calgary, Encana Corporation and Seminars for Health. Lisa is the course developer and instructor of the Holistic Nutrition series of courses. She provides an attainable holistic nutrition approach that can benefit anyone.
She is currently the owner of Inner Balance Spa in Calgary where she continues to practice therapeutic massage, Myofascial Release and Nutritional consulting.
Anita Szuster, RMT
Anita has been a successful practicing Shiatsu Therapists since 1994; completing a 2200 hr Shiatsu Therapy program at the Shiatsu School of Canada. Furthering her hands-on therapeutic practice, Anita graduated from the Massage Therapy program at Mount Royal College in 1999. She is the course developer and instructor of the Shiatsu Therapy Certification Course formerly held at Mount Royal University; as well as operating their student Shiatsu clinic. Anita has demonstrated her abilities as an educator, instructing several courses within the Mount Royal’s Massage Therapy diploma program. Anita has developed a series of Shiatsu continuing education courses for health practitioners that she instructs for Seminars for Health.
Danielle Pechie, RMT
Passion for balance, sustainable health, and unencumbered movement led Danielle, founder of Yoga Therapy & Bodywork, around the world to study yoga and massage since 1989. She obtained her diploma in Athletic Therapy from Mount Royal University and went on to study Kinesiology at the University of Calgary. Since then, she has been committed to studying and working with physical performance and injury. As a senior yoga instructor, Danielle expertly pairs therapies to deliver informative, integrated and inspiring yoga based classes. An accomplished Critical Alignment Level IV instructor, Danielle created the Self Care with Critical Alignment course. This course is based on a Critical Alignment yoga therapy that successfully creates lasting change. Danielle expertly pairs her knowledge and therapies to deliver informative, integrated and inspiring classes.
Denny Paccagnan, BA, RMT
Denny Paccagnan has passionately practiced hands-on therapy for 22 years. As a result of Denny’s desire to learn, he is fully certified in Manual Lymph Drainage (MLD) and Combined Decongestive Therapy (CDT) and completed numerous myofascial release courses taught by John Barnes and Barry Jenings. His desire and enthusiasm to learn keeps him informed on the latest myofascial and lymphatic techniques.
From his high-level of education and training, Denny created this unique Fascial Decompression course. This outstanding method was developed from his 22,000+ hours of successful “hands-on” therapeutic work experience and immense continuing education knowledge including inspiration of John F. Barnes. Fascia and lymphatics is Denny’s specialty. His philosophy is to help the body initiate its own innate natural healing response, allowing the injury or problem to heal itself.
Denny is a very calming therapist and instructor to be around. His remarkable, gentle and non-invasive healing approach is very effective at successfully treating patients who do not respond to any other treatment.
Janine Gotzke, RMT, CD
Janine graduated as a massage therapist from Mount Royal University in 2004 and has been practicing since. Starting in 2016, she was an instructor at Mount Royal University’s Massage Therapy Program and massage therapy at MaKami College. Her massage therapy practice expands from working in Chiropractic clinics to South American beaches and now Janine practices from her own clinic in Calgary. Her specialization in pregnancy, postnatal and infant massage therapy is complimented by her Doula training. As an instructor for Seminars for Health Pregnancy and Postnatal Massage course, Janine uplifts and enables therapist to provide a safe and confident massage treatment. Her instruction not only focus on providing a quality massage treatment, but inspires students to understand the emotional and physical changes and challenges that their client may be going through. This course provides students with the foundation to specialize in pregnancy and postnatal massage care. Having personal home birth experience, Janine is blessed with two children and a new born.
Mike Horne, RMT
Mike has been practicing massage therapy for 15 years, has been a Massage Therapy instructor since 2003; starting to teach at ICT Northumberland College in Halifax Nova Scotia as well as CCMH Halifax and Calgary campuses. Mike has been involved with many different sections of the profession from Cruise Ships, land based resorts in other countries, along with setting up a training academy in the UK for a the cruise ship spa company. His practice has been varied and dynamic throughout the years ranging from National and professional Athletes, to the theater and dance communities, along with special population groups from chronic pain and neurological conditions. His treatment plans are effectively focused with his vast knowledge and experience of assessment skills.
He is currently a Lead instructor at Mount Royal University’s Massage Therapy program and has been with them since 2010, and was also involved with the curriculum review group and rewrite. He is a talented instructor and presenter who delivers the material in a logical and comprehensible manner. He was the lead massage therapist at Landmark Collaborative Health and is sitting on the board of directors for the MTAA.
Shirley Damberger, RMT
Combining a lifelong interest in wellness with an extensive clinical treatment background, Shirley is a therapist that gets results. With a focus on identifying and treating root causes, her work has focused on helping clients recover from surgery, increase range of motion, improve postural integrity, reduce pain and promote overall well being.
She is a well-rounded practitioner trained in several modalities including a 2200 hour Registered Massage Therapist Diploma from Mount Royal University and a Certification in Thai Massage Therapy from the Sacred Asia School of Massage. Additional areas of specialty include Oncology Massage, Dynamic Cupping, Fascial Stretch Therapy, Global Health Systems and Environmental Medicine.
She feels called to share this knowledge and experience as a passionate, award winning instructor, having taught thousands of practitioners in various courses of Osteology, Myology and Arthrology, Gross Anatomy, and Body Mind Connection.
Katie Kenyon, MScPT, BSW, CAFCI, RYT-200
Katie grew up in Calgary with a passion for the outdoors, functional movement and community. She combined a bachelor’s degree in Social Work and a Master’s degree in Physiotherapy in order to provide care with a truly biopsychosocial approach.
Katie has worked in a variety of settings including hospital, private practice and the Canmore Pain Clinic. She uses many different treatment modalities with clients including acupuncture, manual therapy, therapeutic yoga and mindfulness. Katie has continued to study with post-graduate work in the fields of women’s health, manual therapy, persistent pain and yoga.
Katie is passionate about engaging clients in their journey to health with an evidence-based and client-centered approach. She is thrilled to use principles of neuroplasticity to change the brain, help clients regain function and move with ease, integrity & joy. Katie is the course developer and instructor of Transforming Pain with Neuroplasticity. This outstanding course provides therapist with alternatives to help clients who live with persistent, chronic pain. The vast information and resources provided are equally valuable for participants to utilize within their own self care routine.
Bob Cross, BPE, RMT
An education leader, Bob has elevated the massage therapy industry through his academic contributions. He is respected amongst Seminars for Health’s faculty of instructors and by the massage therapy industry for his knowledge and passion to raise the overall standards of massage therapy. Bob has been heavily involved within the massage education sector including being a co-founder of Seminars for Health with Linda Hoppe. He has been teaching various components of Massage Therapy for 20+ years. He was a Senior Instructor with Mount Royal University and currently Department Head and Senior Instructor with MaKami College and instructor with Seminars for Health. Bob is appreciated by his students for his gift of delivery when teaching. Bob’s talent and reputation solidified Seminars for Health’s entrance rights to instruct gross anatomy at the Cadaver Lab at Foothills Hospital. His astute anatomy skills makes him especially invaluable as a Cadaver Lab and Palpation with Precision instructor.
Sully Yankovich, Bed, RMT
As a therapist and a teacher, Sully has been working with clients in the healing arts for over twenty years. After completing her Bachelor of Fine Art and Bachelor of Education, she became a Massage Therapist, a Reiki Master, Cranial Sacral therapist, a mediator for over 40 years and foremost a teacher.
Sully has dedicated a large part of her career to contributing her skills as an instructor at educational institutions in her field. She has taught in the 2-year massage therapy program at Mount Royal University for over 20 years and has developed and implemented programs for diverse student populations of varying ages. Sully is enthusiastic about Ethics within the massage therapy industry and she forwards this passion of hers to all of her students. She is a kind and strong mentor for the massage therapy industry.
