Become Certified as an SFH Pre & Postnatal Massage Therapist

In Canada, there are approximately 380,000 births per year and the highest fertility age rate is between the age of 30 and 34. Women are entering pregnancy later in life, leading to the need of your increased help during the pre & postnatal time. Become proficient with providing confident and superior care to women throughout their pregnancy, labor and postpartum with this comprehensive SFH Certification program.

Become a Certified Pre and Postnatal Massage Therapist by passing both levels of this highly skilled course.

Note: Prenatal Massage class is not a prerequisite of Postnatal Massage class. The order in which you may choose to take those 2 courses is optional.

This certification is made up of two comprehensive courses.

Prenatal Massage: This 2-day comprehensive Prenatal Massage course addresses a wide range of physical and emotional health concerns.  Massage Therapists will learn how to execute proper and effective treatment, by covering in detail, the client’s health history information and specific massage techniques. This course will also include intensive hands-on Prenatal Massage techniques, isolated stretching techniques, proper positioning and draping specific to this clientele. Furthermore, you can assure that your client will be safe by learning all about contraindications, complications, postural changes and basic anatomy of the pelvis.  You can trust that this Prenatal Massage course is excellent for training competent massage therapists in dealing with care and compassion to make a pregnant journey just that extra special.

Postnatal Massage: This one-day course will cover physical and mental health postpartum rehabilitation. Pelvic health issues and techniques (external) will be addressed to support and promote the healing and strengthening of this region. Specific care to shoulder, neck, and back will be covered through demo and practice of postpartum massage techniques. Contraindications will also be discussed looking more in-depth at the effects that medical interventions have on a woman’s body and how massage therapists can assist with comprehensive postnatal massage care and rehabilitation. Become certified and proficient with providing new mothers with highly specific and individual postnatal massage care.

Treat with confidence and care. Become Certified in Prenatal and Postnatal Massage with this three day-two course Certification Program developed by Janine Gotzke in collaboration with Seminars for Health.

Proof of Attendance versus Certification

Students complete our classes and receive our “proof of attendance”. They still receive the allotted amount of credits specified by their association and do not need to complete an exam.

Students complete our “Certification” after they successfully write our exam.  If they pass all exams required (if more than one), then they will receive a final SFH certificate stating that they completed all requirements to be a “Certified Therapist”.

SFH Certification requirements (as of 2020)

Students must be present for the whole duration of the course length to become certified.

Students must participate and safely execute all hands-on components of the course.

Students must pass the final written exam.

Please note that the instructors have the right to ask the students to execute any hands-on component at any time. Refusal will deny you from the exam process and, subsequently, your certification.

SFH instructors hold the right to refuse students from writing the final exam if they feel that the participant cannot safely perform the material despite adequate training.

Upon class Completion:

You will receive an email, including an electronic version of your proof of attendance. Upon registration, make sure you enter your information correctly to ensure this happens. We collect your email address, first name and last name (please give us the name you wish to have on your proof of attendance).

Upon Certificate Completion:

You will receive an email that includes an electronic version of your certificate and instructions on how to promote your new skill set and service. It can take up to three weeks to receive this email. When registering, please make sure you enter your information correctly. We will require an email address, first name and last name (please give us the name you wish to have printed on your certificate).

We will directly submit your certificate to the following associations: MTAA, CMMOTA, CRMTA, & NHPC.

Pre-purchased official certifications will be mailed to you three weeks after you have passed the exam. Please do not call the office to find out your results.

I just took a Kinetic Massage of the Neck seminar with Linda Hoppe at the FSMTA convention in Florida. It was one of the best learning experiences I ever had. The anatomical explanations were wonderful and gave you the confidence and knowledge to work safely with your clients. The hands-on part of the class was great as well and you left with some fantastic new techniques for your “tool box” (as I like to call it) to treat neck and upper back issues in a new, different and very effective way. I can highly recommend this class. Your clients will love their treatments. Thank you, Linda!
